Norse Homes Proud to Support the Grantham Canal Society

Norse Homes is delighted to announce its support for the Grantham Canal Society, helping to preserve and restore one of the region’s most treasured historic waterways.

Members of the Norse Homes team recently joined representatives from the Grantham Canal Society at Lady Bay to celebrate the unveiling of a new sponsored information board, highlighting the fascinating history of the canal and its importance to the local community.

The new board, located at Lady Bay near West Bridgford, provides visitors with an insight into the canal’s rich heritage, its historical role in connecting Nottingham to Grantham, and the ongoing efforts to protect and restore this much-loved waterway.

Supporting Our Local Communities

At Norse Homes, we believe that building homes is about much more than bricks and mortar. It’s about creating thriving communities, protecting local heritage and making a positive, lasting impact on the places where we live and work.

Our sponsorship of the Grantham Canal Society reflects this commitment, supporting the dedicated volunteers and individuals who work tirelessly to maintain, improve and restore the canal for future generations.

Originally opened in 1797, the Grantham Canal played an important role in the region’s industrial history, transporting coal, building materials and agricultural produce. Today, it provides a valuable green corridor for wildlife and a peaceful setting for walkers, cyclists and nature enthusiasts.

Celebrating an Important Partnership

The unveiling of the new information board was a fantastic opportunity for members of the Norse Homes team to see the results of our sponsorship first-hand and learn more about the Society’s ongoing restoration ambitions.

The board marks an important point along the canal at Lady Bay, where the historic waterway once connected with the River Trent. It also helps raise awareness of the Society’s long-term vision to restore and reconnect sections of the canal.

We are proud to support an organisation that shares our passion for protecting the local environment, celebrating heritage and creating spaces that communities can enjoy for years to come.

Looking Ahead

We would like to extend our thanks to the Grantham Canal Society for welcoming our team and for the incredible work they continue to undertake.

We look forward to following the Society’s progress and continuing to support its efforts to bring new life to this important local landmark.
